Job Description
Our Vehicle Engineering department is the driving force behind performance and innovation at Williams Racing. From electronics and control systems to mechanical design, data processing, and structural integrity, our experts work as one to deliver race-winning performance. Every component from chassis to bodywork is crafted with precision, powered by collaboration, and guided by a shared passion for excellence.
Within Vehicle Engineering, our teams focus on:
Chassis, Bodywork & Wings (CBW)
The Chassis, Bodywork and Wings Department plays a critical role in developing innovative solutions that deliver performance to our Formula 1 cars. Our team of skilled Design Engineers works tirelessly to deliver right first time, structurally optimal car parts, directly influencing our performance on the track.
Design Quality
In the Design Quality team, we organise data, documentation and own many processes which are key to supporting the engineers within Vehicle Design. For example, we help check and approve design releases and we refine processes. We also work with Production Operations to improve processes.
Materials
The Materials Engineering department delivers crucial data to the wider company to enable efficient design, manufacturing and racing of car components. This information is generated in three main areas; new material characterisation, design & manufacturing process support and fault analysis. As a result, this area involves a broad range of materials and associated processes.
Powertrain
The Powertrain Design team is a core part of Vehicle Engineering at Williams Racing, responsible for developing high-performance systems that deliver power, reliability, and efficiency. Working closely with Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, Manufacturing, and Simulation teams, Powertrain engineers design components from concept to prototype, using advanced materials and cutting-edge technologies. From gearbox housings to cooling systems, the team produces detailed drawings and assemblies for manufacturing, contributing directly to the car’s on-track performance. It’s a fast-paced, collaborative environment where innovation and precision drive results.
Suspension, Steering & Brakes (SSB)
The SSB team is a key part of Vehicle Engineering at Williams Racing, responsible for developing the systems that connect the car to the track. Working closely with Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, and Manufacturing, the team designs and engineers' components such as wishbones, uprights, steering systems, and brake assemblies. Using advanced materials and precision design tools, SSB contributes directly to handling, performance, and safety. From concept to prototype and testing, the team plays a vital role in delivering race-winning capability through mechanical excellence.
Structures
The Structures department drives car design forward ensuring components are safe while extracting the maximum performance available. We verify that designs meet FIA and internal criteria working with multiple departments to achieve the optimum for all.
Electronics, Software and Controls
This team works across both software and mechanical domains to support the development and integration of race car systems. Their responsibilities include building bespoke software tools to process and analyse real-time telemetry data, delivering insights that inform performance decisions. In parallel, they contribute to the mechanical design and installation of custom electrical enclosures and harnesses used throughout the car. This cross-functional role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability and competitiveness of the car on track.
We are hiring for the following roles:
Shape the Future
Your work will directly impact the reliability and innovation of our engineering processes, helping the team stay at the cutting edge of motorsport technology. By delivering materials projects and supporting cross-functional teams, you’ll ensure that our cars are built with precision, durability, and speed in mind.
Shape the Future
History doesn’t repeat itself. It’s rebuilt - one breakthrough at a time. Be part of the team redefining performance and writing the next winning chapter for Williams Racing.
Atlassian Williams Racing – Shape our team’s next chapter:
For nearly 50 years, Williams Racing has pushed the limits of speed and innovation. As one of the most successful teams in F1 history, with 16 World Championships and a legacy shaped by legends like Sir Frank Williams and Nigel Mansell, we’re now on a bold mission to reclaim our place at the front and win multiple championships again.
Our People Promise:
Join a high-performance team where ambition and our people promise guide everything we do. In a fast-paced, challenging environment, your work directly shapes our winning formula. Collaborate with the brightest minds in motorsport, building on our rich heritage and pushing the boundaries of speed and innovation. We want people who live our values - innovation, teamwork, resilience, excellence, and accountability to create the winning formula that drives Williams Racing back to the top.
Early Careers:
At Atlassian Williams Racing, our two-year Graduate Programme throws you into real motorsport from day one. Our rotational routes offer broad, cross-team exposure, or you can go deep as a subject-matter expert, specialising in one area. Expect live projects, a leadership speaker series, and wraparound support from our Early Careers team and your manager. Join a tight-knit cohort, build a network across the business, and fast-track your skills into impact. This could be your launchpad to become one of our future leaders.
