We are currently looking for a motivated Tyre Performance Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for the development of in-house thermo-mechanical tyre model, along with correlation methodology and fitting tools.
Responsibilities
- Lead the grip mapping methodology, including testing, correlation, and modelling.
- Enhance understanding of tyre degradation and advance wear and degradation models.
- Enhance knowledge of tyre physics and related tyre models.
- Perform correlation work among tyre models, simulator, and real car data.
- Assist in the development of tyre simulation tools.
- Apply tyre models and simulation tools to advance tyre knowledge, car performance, and correlation.
- Provide live trackside support based on Operation Room activities during race weekends when required.
- Support pre-, in-, and post-event tyre analysis and simulations as needed.
- Collaborate openly with tyre, strategy engineers, and both car crews to optimise setup at the track.
- Maintain bibliography and documentation on tyre physics.
- Improve methodologies, analysis, and simulation tools to support tyre research and develop new concepts.
- Foster cooperation and communication with tyre engineers and strategy engineers
- Offer feedback and suggestions to the group leader and colleagues for ongoing development.
- Maintaining effective communication with their own teams as well as other departments.
- Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of the projects.
Experience needed
- Master’s degree in mechanical, vehicle or aerospace Engineering or similar.
- Good knowledge of tyre engineering and understanding of tyre effect on car behaviour.
- Experience in a motorsport environment or in a motorsport team is a preferred requirement.
- Experience in a tyre manufacturer is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of telemetry tools and data analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of Matlab and Python is essential.
- Ability to respect deadline for reporting information and analysis.
- Ability to work with the team, external groups, and colleagues with a strong team spirit.
- Self-organized and pro-active.
- Ability to problem solving and quickly react to a continuous demanding environment.
- Drive for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Good communication skills in English (written and verbal).
