Job Description

Join the Audi F1 Project - Shape the Future of Motorsport!

Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.

Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026. The new team has three locations. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. We have recently opened Sauber Motorsport Technology Center in the UK. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations with support from the UK.

We are now opening applications for our inaugural Graduate Programme. In your graduate role, you will contribute directly to live projects, gaining hands-on experience from day one.

Continuous improvement is at the core of what we do. You will be encouraged to adapt and innovate, strengthening your skills and developing a growth mindset. Clear and effective communication, as well as constructive feedback, will be essential in helping you collaborate across teams. You will share knowledge openly and learn from the experience of your teammates. And we place great emphasis on ownership: you will take responsibility for your work, make informed decisions and understand how your contributions shape the wider team's success.

Your mission

As a member of the Aero Design Surface team, you play a key role in designing aerodynamic surfaces for wind tunnel models and CFD simulations in close collaboration with aerodynamicists. Your work supports aerodynamic development by ensuring surfaces meet performance requirements, are free from errors, and comply with FIA regulations. Where required, you design with cost awareness in mind, balancing performance with practical constraints. You contribute to continuous improvement in design methodology, surface quality, and production feasibility, helping to deliver high-performance aerodynamic components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design aerodynamic surfaces for wind tunnel testing and CFD simulations in collaboration with aerodynamicists.
  • Discuss new aerodynamic concepts and provide preparatory design work.
  • Ensure surface designs are error-free, cost-conscious, producible, and compliant with FIA regulations.
  • Maintain clear communication with other Aero Design groups, Aerodynamics, and CFD Engineers.
  • Represent and enforce the objectives of the Team Leader and the company within the group.
  • Create and maintain master files to streamline the development of design options.
  • Continuously improve surface quality and propose fundamental enhancements.
  • Develop and document CAD methodology in coordination with other design groups.
  • Enforce design guidelines and support colleagues in their daily design tasks.

Your profile

Required Qualifications

  • Technical designer education or degree in Mechanical Engineering from a university of applied sciences or technical college.
  • Experience in Motorsport, Formula Student, or Formula 1 is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in CATIA V5/V6/3Dx.
  • Basic knowledge of the GSD workbench.
  • Strong visualisation skills and spatial awareness.

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
  • Independent, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Professional and respectful in interactions with colleagues and superiors.
  • Open to learning and sharing knowledge with others.
