About the Role

As a student placement in Aero Thermal, you’ll play a hands-on role in developing and implementing aerodynamic and aerothermal concepts for our Formula One® car. You’ll support projects from conception through testing and analysis, helping to optimise the car’s performance while learning how CFD, wind tunnel testing, and aerothermal simulations underpin real-world decision-making.

Your work may include:

• Work on projects using CAD, CFD, and wind tunnel tools
• Participate in wind tunnel testing and perform post-test analysis
• Contribute to drawing and scheming aerodynamic concepts in CAD
• Support CFD baselines, PIV analysis, and test methodologies
• Collaborate with other teams to resolve issues and ensure compliance with FIA regulations
• Take ownership of tasks, troubleshoot problems, and help improve overall aerodynamic performance.
  
  

No two days are the same – you’ll gain hands-on experience across simulation, analysis, and experimental testing, making a real contribution to the performance of the car.

About You

We’re looking for curious, committed students who share our racer’s spirit. You should be:

• Studying aeronautical, mechanical, or related engineering at degree level
• Developing an understanding of aerodynamics, aerothermal concepts, and CFD
• Comfortable using CAD and contributing to scheming and drawing concepts
• Enthusiastic, adaptable, and able to work under tight deadlines
• Proactive, collaborative, and resilient, with a structured approach to problem-solving
• Curious, adaptable, and able to work well in a team-focused, fast-moving environment
• A clear and positive communicator, with a collaborative approach.
