Led by one of the most successful and innovative owners in motorsports, Chip Ganassi Racing has won 22 championships dating back to 1990. In addition, 2016 saw the team pick up their first-ever victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Overall, Ganassi has won six of the seven most iconic races in the world of auto racing with wins in the Indianapolis 500 (5 times), Daytona 500, Brickyard 400, 24 Hours of Le Mans, Rolex 24 At Daytona (8), and the 12 Hours of Sebring (2).

On the business side, CGR had one of the longest-running relationships in motorsports history with Target and currently can claim partnerships with PNC Bank, Parkland, DHL, and Honda, among many others. Today, Ganassi teams include three cars in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and two in INDY NXT by Firestone. Ganassi boasts a state-of-the-art racing facility in Indianapolis, and a corporate office in Pittsburgh.

We are looking for a versatile and self-motivated Software Engineer to join our team in a truly unique role that combines elite motorsport performance with the power of cutting-edge AI technology. As part of a professional race team partnered with OpenAI, you’ll have the rare opportunity to develop software that drives innovation both on and off the track.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in Python, C#, and web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and comfortable working independently. Experience with VBA and Matlab is a plus.

As a Software Engineer, Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Design, build, and maintain applications using Python, C#, and modern web technologies.
  • Lead and contribute to race-critical tools, including real-time data dashboards, simulation interfaces, and operational software.
  • Work autonomously while managing priorities and deliverables effectively.
  • Maintain and enhance legacy software written in VBA and Matlab.
  • Collaborate with race engineers, data analysts, and AI teams to continuously improve system performance.

To Be Successful In This Role, You’ll Need

  • Proficiency in Python, C#, and web languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Strong self-direction and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with VBA and Matlab.
  • Interest or background in AI/ML applications.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and DevOps pipelines.
  • Interest or knowledge of auto racing.
