Job Description
We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our Aerodynamics Department, reporting to the Team Leader – Aero Engineering. This factory-based role places you at the core of innovation in mechanical design for wind tunnel systems, test facilities, and aero instrumentation. Collaboration is key—you’ll work closely with aerodynamicists, production, planning, and design teams, with occasional travel and flexibility around work hours.

The Role

Key Responsibilities Include
- Designing mechanical systems for wind tunnel models and aero instrumentation
- Liaising across departments to meet project scopes and objectives
- Ensuring compliance with BS 8888 and internal design standards
- Introducing process innovations and researching new technologies
- Supporting leadership and mentoring junior designers
You’ll bring a sharp eye for detail and a drive to produce high-quality work in a collaborative setting. We're looking for someone with technical prowess and a proactive mindset.
What You'll Need
- A degree or equivalent in engineering
- At least 5 years' experience in motorsport, automotive, or aerospace
- Strong CAD skills, ideally with 3DX experience
- A deep understanding of engineering standards like BS 8888
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Organised with strong self-checking habits
- Creative thinker who takes pride in their work
