Description

Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team is offering an exceptional opportunity for highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineers to join our elite Mechanical Design Team at our state-of-the-art Silverstone campus.

These roles are central to the design and development of high-performance mechanical and hydraulic components for our Formula One car. We are specifically seeking candidates with proven Formula One experience, who understand the pace, precision, and innovation required at the pinnacle of motorsport. Your expertise will help drive our ambition of competing at the front of the grid in the FIA Formula One World Championship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design a wide range of mechanical components and assemblies from initial concept through to detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Manage the full design lifecycle – from CAD modelling and drawing release to supporting manufacturing, testing, and performance validation.
  • Provide hands-on support during build phases, rig testing, and trackside development when required.
  • Work collaboratively to resolve engineering challenges and deliver practical, performance-oriented solutions.
  • Contribute to ongoing development and optimisation of design concepts and component functionality.
  • Participate actively in design reviews, technical meetings, and team discussions.
  • Ensure all designs comply with current FIA technical regulations and internal quality standards.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Significant mechanical design experience in a Formula One environment is strongly preferred. (Candidates with relevant high-level motorsport experience will also be considered).
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD systems, ideally CATIA V6 / 3Dx, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, with excellent attention to detail and quality.
  • Experience in hydraulic systems design is desirable but not essential for all roles.
  • Proven ability to approach problems creatively and analytically in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to Health & Safety best practices and continuous professional development.
This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with additional requirement to travel to other locations where necessary.
