Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Internal Manufacturing Technical Buyer to join our dynamic team at the heart of our Formula One operations on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a world-class motorsport team, where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of raw materials, consumables, tooling, and subcontracted services across three machine shops and a fabrication department. You will work closely with colleagues in manufacturing, production, inspection, and design, as well as with a wide range of external suppliers, to deliver value, quality, and agility in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.


Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, consumables, tooling, and subcontracted services to support machining and fabrication.
• Oversee outside operations (e.g., coating, heat treatment, specialist machining) to ensure technical standards, lead times, and material properties are achieved.
• Track order progress and manage supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery.
• Develop strong supplier relationships, proactively addressing risks and resolving supply issues.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations, supporting sourcing activities and driving best-value decisions.
• Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost-effective outcomes.
• Manage and monitor inventory levels, coordinating closely with stores and warehouse teams.
• Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing procurement.
• Onboard and qualify new suppliers in collaboration with the Supplier Quality team.
• Maintain accurate records, data, and reporting to ensure procurement visibility.
• Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies, quality requirements, and Health & Safety standards.
  
  
  

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Proven experience in a technical buying or procurement role, ideally within Formula One, motorsport, or high-performance engineering.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, and assembly.
• Experience in managing outside operations and subcontracted services.
• Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (IFS or similar).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
• Results-driven, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of quality, cost, and delivery metrics within technical procurement.
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety and compliance standards.
