Job Description
Williams Heritage is where the history of Williams Racing is kept alive. The team restores and maintains legendary Formula 1 cars, some dating back nearly 50 years, using original parts and handwritten notes like those from 1977 and Mario Andretti’s green sheet from Las Vegas. With over 150 years of combined experience, the engineers and mechanics make sure these cars are race-ready for historic events and private ownership. It’s a place where engineering meets passion, and the past is brought back to life on and off the track.

Heritage Industrial Placement
A Mechanical Engineering background is highly valuable for this role, where you'll provide engineering support to the Heritage Team by designing and developing components and assemblies for historic Formula 1 cars, ensuring they are authentic and fit for operational use. You’ll deliver accurate, high-quality engineering designs that meet manufacturing and assembly standards, preserving the integrity and performance of heritage vehicles. Additionally, you'll help maintain and prepare the heritage car collection to support brand representation, client and sponsor engagement, and the ongoing celebration of Williams’ legacy and history.

You’ll take on real responsibility with projects that shape the future car and our business. Grow with a cohort from day one, then head back to university with experience you can apply immediately. - Join Williams Heritage, where the legacy of Formula 1 is preserved through the restoration and recommissioning of legendary race cars some dating back nearly 50 years.
- Gain hands-on experience in reengineering metallic and composite components using original drawings, handwritten notes, and advanced systems like Teamcenter, NX, and MRS.
- Learn from a highly experienced team, including the Chief Engineer and heritage specialists, while contributing to the full product lifecycle from design and calculations to manufacture, testing, and final assembly.
- Play a key role in maintaining and preparing the heritage car collection for historic events, sponsor activations, and private ownership, directly supporting Williams Racing’s brand and commercial success.
- Apply your mechanical engineering skills to real-world challenges, including stiffness calculations, suspension design, and authentic part specification, all under expert guidance.
- Represent the Williams brand professionally by supporting the show car programme and maintaining high standards across cars, equipment, and event spaces.
- Studying a Mechanical Engineering degree
