Our Team

Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.

Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.

The new team has three locations. The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technical Center, UK will be operational this year. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

The position for the Audi F1 Project is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).

In the field of electric machine development (MGU-K), you’ll be working on the key component of high-performance electric drives, contributing directly to competitiveness in the highly demanding Formula 1 environment. The development of the MGU-K (Motor Generator Unit – Kinetic) spans from early concept phases through detailed design to validation via test bench runs.

Your Mission

  • Design and mechanical development of the MGU-K as part of the Formula 1 power unit
  • Consideration of mechanical, thermal, and electrical requirements for integrating the MGU-K into the overall power unit system
  • Collaboration with simulation, manufacturing, and testing to optimize parts in terms of performance and reliability
  • Creation and maintenance of CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials using CATIA V5 and PDM/PLM systems
  • Selection of suitable materials and manufacturing processes
  • Tracking and analysis of results from testing and race operations to derive constructive improvements
  • Organization of design reviews, creation of build-up instructions and technical documentation in accordance with FIA regulations
  • Cross-functional collaboration in the development and design of the Energy Recovery System (ERS)

Your Profile

  • Degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, mechatronics or a comparable field
  • Several years of professional experience in designing high-performance electric machines or other drivetrain components in motorsport
  • Solid knowledge of CATIA V5 and PDM/PLM systems
  • Understanding of mechanical, thermal, and electrical requirements of high-performance drives
  • Experience with FIA motorsport regulations
  • Strong implementation skills, high motivation and initiative
  • Excellent team spirit
  • Goal-oriented, independent and structured working style
  • Decision-making and conflict resolution skills
  • Full professional proficiency in German or English and a willingness to attain a basic level in the corresponding other language are prerequisites
