We are seeking candidates with proven experience in a Formula One environment who understand the innovation, precision, and pace required at the highest level of motorsport. Your expertise will help us realise our ambition of fighting at the front of the FIA Formula One World Championship.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex composite components and assemblies, including patterns, tooling, and jigs, from initial concept through to detailed CAD and manufacturing release.
- Define detailed 3D surface geometry, laminate specifications, and plybooks in accordance with performance and manufacturing requirements.
- Support the full design lifecycle including manufacturing, inspection, build, and testing phases.
- Provide rapid and effective solutions to design challenges encountered during development or validation phases.
- Collaborate across departments including Aerodynamics, Vehicle Performance, Production, and Race Team to ensure optimal performance and integration.
- Participate in design reviews, performance assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all designs comply with FIA technical regulations and internal quality and safety standards.
- Take ownership of complex composite projects from concept through development, working closely with Lead Engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Contribute as a key member of a small, agile design team, while mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices across design and manufacturing.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Composite Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Significant composite design experience within a Formula One team is strongly preferred. (Candidates with relevant high-level motorsport experience will be considered).
- Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD systems—ideally CATIA V6 / 3Dx—with strong surfacing and plybook generation skills.
- In-depth knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing processes (especially pre-preg/autoclave), and tooling design.
- Demonstrated ability to work at pace with accuracy and attention to detail.
- A proactive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving in a high-performance environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills, adaptability, and commitment to continual professional development.
- Dedication to Health & Safety best practices and adherence to technical governance.
