With a programme portfolio that spans automotive and non-automotive sectors, we are looking for a range of driven, world-class engineers to join us on this exciting journey of solving complex challenges beyond the racetrack.
We have a new opportunity to be part of the Aston Martin Performance Technologies Special Projects team in the role of Composite Design Engineer.
As a Composite Design Engineer in our AMPT Special Projects division you will be instrumental in delivering high-performance composite components from concept through to production. You’ll contribute to groundbreaking innovations, supporting the development of next-generation commercial applications through advanced engineering design.
You will also represent AMPT externally, ensuring a high technical and professional standard is maintained with customers, partners, suppliers, and institutions.
You will be responsible for:
- Designing and developing composite components from concept to completion, including packaging, surfacing, and tooling.

- Collaborating closely with structures, production, and aerodynamic teams to ensure structural integrity and performance.
- Driving continuous improvement through iterative testing and design refinement.
- Resolving technical issues during manufacturing, testing, and development.
- Supporting project planning, mass tracking, compliance, and progress reporting.
- Contributing to innovation, business systems, patent applications, and best practices.
What you will need to be successful in this role:
- Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport Engineering or similar (2:1 or above preferred).
- Experience in Formula 1, high-level motorsport or a leading tech/engineering company.
- Strong proficiency in CATIA V6/3DX, with surfacing and solid modelling skills.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, composite materials, lightweight design principles, and fastener selection.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Power BI).
- Skilled in managing pressure, adapting to rapid change, and working as part of a collaborative team.
- Effective communicator with a proactive and professional approach.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and innovation in all aspects of engineering.
- Some travel may be required to meet project and company needs. Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence are essential.
This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with additional requirement to travel to other locations where necessary.
Embark on a journey with the Aston Martin Performance Technologies to reshape history at our cutting-edge, sustainable campus in Northamptonshire.
