We have an exciting opportunity for a CNC Composite Machinist to join our Pattern Shop working on a weekend shift. As a CNC Composite Machinist, you will be responsible for machining carbon fibre components, patterns, moulds, jigs, and other precision parts using state-of-the-art 5-axis CNC machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine high-specification composite parts using 5-axis CNC machines and offline programs.
- Machine patterns, moulds, jigs, and tooling to meet tight tolerances and design specifications.
- Use engineering drawings to verify accuracy and communicate discrepancies before part removal.
- Monitor production schedules to ensure timely delivery, escalating issues promptly.
- Maintain machines, tooling, and workstations to avoid downtime and maximise performance.
- Collaborate with CNC Programmers to refine machining processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Prepare raw material stock and support related departments as needed.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement and team performance targets.
- Support car build schedules with flexibility and professionalism.
- Proven experience in composite machining using 5-axis CNC equipment.
- Possess an excellent understanding of composite machining methods and requirements for achieving required tolerances on machined components.
- Working knowledge of CNC programming principles and machining best practices.
- Experience with carbon fibre, Rohacell, and associated composite materials.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and apply practical solutions.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
