This may be in the form of preparing the on-car systems and additional instrumentation projects, or supporting car and car part preparation, servicing and maintenance from MTC. This will be achieved with in-depth technical understanding of car systems as well as analysis during car preparation and running. Technical support and feedback to all engineering disciplines during and after such events will be a vital part of this role. This role will also support the Trackside (Race Team) Engineering Support Staff when not at events. The role will involve attendance to multiple race and test events.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Helping to support the development of car reliability across the car systems functions.
  • Preparation and fit of any additional instrumentation projects.
  • In depth monitoring, analysis and reporting of key areas of car operation and sub-systems (gearbox, hydraulics, electronic systems)
  • Setup and in-session handling of remote telemetry systems (ADS/RDS/vTAG)
  • Providing technical feedback on state of car both in and out of session on event or remotely supporting from UK.
  • Communicating with Systems and Reliability Engineers to diagnose and resolve issues during event – often under time pressure.
  • Liaising with all Engineering disciplines when resolving issues pre, during and post event
  • Assisting Systems Engineers in sheet preparation and other duties where required
  • Operating the MTC ‘bench harness’ for fault investigation, often in parallel with track activities

Other duties will include:

  • Aiding development of on- and off-car monitoring and preparation tools, including Data servers.
  • Assuming ‘ownership’ of systems and electrical components on one of the Race cars when attending events.
  • Support to configuration and testing activities, both at system and vehicle level (gearbox, fuel system, hydraulics, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of working in a highly technical engineering function.
  • Competent in System Monitor and ATLAS – although training provided.
  • Competent Microsoft Office products – advanced Excel skills preferable.
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Experience and knowledge of motorsport events

Personal Attributes:

  • Must be able to proactively use initiative where appropriate
  • Highly self-motivated to achieve targets set both for this role and the wider team
  • A team player who is supportive of others
  • Determined, results focused and driven to achieve successful outcome
  • Eager to learn and enthusiastic

  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must have the ability and willingness to travel extensively both in the UK and abroad
