We are looking for an Assistant Transport Manager to Support the Transport Manager in driving high performance across the team, focusing on operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and strategic resource planning.
Key responsibilities will be to ensure all transport activities meet compliance, budget (including F1 cost cap), and service standards in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Main responsibilities of the role:
- Operational & Strategic Support: Act as the Transport Manager’s deputy, ensuring smooth operations and supporting long-term strategy. Drive performance, service quality, and cost cap compliance through data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
- Change & Performance Leadership: Foster a culture of innovation and lean thinking. Lead efficiency improvements, adopt smarter working practices, and support the rollout of new systems and tools for better planning and tracking.
- Resource & Fleet Management: Optimise driver and fleet availability to meet demand. Monitor fleet performance to reduce costs and improve utilisation. Expand the logistics network to enhance flexibility and value.
- Compliance & Cost Governance: Ensure legal compliance, including Operator Licence requirements. Align all transport activities with F1 cost cap rules, maintaining financial accuracy and audit readiness in collaboration with finance teams.
- Team & Safety Leadership: Line manages the transport team, promoting safety, accountability, and continuous development. Uphold Health & Safety standards and nurture a professional, high-performance culture.
Essential attributes for success:
- Valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Haulage - International.
- Valid UK manual driving licence (CE desirable)
- Strong data analysis skills and experience with transport management systems.
- Committed to continuous improvement and operational innovation.
- Able to manage change positively and influence others to adopt better ways of working.
