We are looking to recruit an innovative and detailed driven Aerodynamicist to join our Aero Development team. In this role you can expect to work on the day-to-day development and implementation of the current Aerodynamic philosophy for the design and performance of our current and future F1 cars.
This role provides a fantastic opportunity to work proactively and constructively within the Development Team to develop and maintain improved methods and maximise the teams performance.
The successful candidate will be someone who can leverage a proactive, tenacious approach to achieve and often exceed, continuously improving our car performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Use state-of-the-art Wind Tunnel, CFD, CAD and other relevant methodologies to productively design and evaluate new aerodynamic concepts and their optimisation.
- Regularly feedback progress to the Principal and Aero Group Lead on aerodynamic development and highlight potential barriers, threats, opportunities or weaknesses that may influence the current aerodynamic strategy.
- Actively contribute to and work to improve our approach to experimental, numerical and analyses techniques. Of particular relevance being Wind Tunnel repeatability.
- Draw and scheme in CAD supporting logical and justified creative innovations while maintaining a current and thorough working knowledge of Aerodynamics.
- Troubleshoot CFD issues whilst being mindful of the precaution of limitations.
- Oversee information for aero release, including admin and pre-event documents as well as being in command of the quality and deliverance of the Aerodynamic test programme.
- Take responsibility for the submission of jobs to CFD, Wind Tunnel and Track and successful testing of these offering support out of hours if necessary.
- Possess a thorough understanding of Aerodynamics - applied and numerical.
- Educated to degree level or higher in areas such as Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent.
- Preferably demonstrates a good working knowledge of F1 Aerodynamic testing, development and analysis.
- Possess good working knowledge of CAD systems with a preference of CATIA.
- Be self-motivated and to motivate others to thrive in a challenging environment.
- Demonstrate a logical and justified mindset yet being willing to try, fail and learn fast.
- Be enthusiastic and versatile and be able to build, develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
